Bookkeeper / Accounting Specialist – Suffolk

First Professional Services (formerly Headway Workforce Solutions) is currently seeking a temp-hire Bookkeeper to support a small business that maintains the books for 3 separate entities.

This position will support the management team and CPA with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll and general bookkeeping support

Salary: $18-$25 / hour depending on experience and qualifications.

Hours 7 am – 4, 8 am – 5, 7:30 am– 4:30
Choose your shift. Monday through Friday.


  • Minimum 3-4 years previous experience working in an accounting or bookkeeping role required
  • Experience utilizing Peachtree preferred
  • Must have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • High degree of attention to detail and ability to multi-task with multiple projects is a must for this position
  • Willing to consent to a background check and drug screen.


  • Input information and maintain data in Peachtree
  • Enter and maintain payroll records
  • Prepare customer invoices for mailing
  • Organize and prepare accounts payable files
  • Prepare checks to be signed by owner
  • Maintain inventory data and prepare reports for month end reconciliations
  • Assist CPA and CFO in preparing month end reports and financial statements
  • Complete monthly state sales tax filings
  • Reconcile monthly bank statements
  • Prepare cash availability, cash flow and cash management reports for owner
  • Maintain multiple bank accounts
  • Prepare and maintain reports utilizing Excel spreadsheets
  • Provide overall accounting support for the office
